Local Oklahoma drug raid nets 14 arrestsA drug raid that Oklahoma narcotics agents labeled REACT swept through Ardmore early Friday netting more than a dozen people.
Oklahoma District Attorney Drug Task Force agents led the raid that started just before dawn. The DATF was assisted by members of the Ardmore, Oklahoma Police Department and the Carter County, Oklahoma Sheriff's Department tactical teams. Oklahoma Officers were armed with 19 arrest warrants.
Capt. Leroy Johnson, who oversees Ardmore, Oklahoma Police Department Criminal Investigation Division and the APD officers who serve with the DATF, said REACT was the result of a 11/2-month investigation.
"REACT -- Reacting to the Community's Complaints -- targeted crack cocaine and marijuana," Johnson said. "Ninety-five percent of the warrants were based on complaints from the community in which people reported drug activity in their neighborhoods. Those reports resulted in successful undercover purchases and led to the warrant charges."
By late Saturday, 12 of the 19 people named in the warrants were reported to be behind bars. Two others not named on warrants were also netted in the sweep.
Wallace Kemp, 20, was taken into custody in connection with the drugs and cash armed robbery earlier this month that set off a series of drug war drive-by shootings.
Sgt. Rick Reynolds, APD CID, said Dylan Knight Roberson, also know as Little Dice and Nine Lives Three, faces similar charges in connection with the same armed robbery. Roberson's name also appeared on the REACT warrant list. He was not apprehended and remains at large.
Reynolds said the third suspect in the armed robbery, which dominoed into the retaliation shooting spree, was identified as Jerry McQuin. The 25-year-old man's name was erased from the APD wanted list Tuesday night after he was killed in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in what has been described as a love triangle murder.
Thomas Gradolph, 30, was the other person arrested without a warrant during Friday's raid. Gradolph faces misdemeanor drug charges.
Those arrested on REACT warrants are:
Carol Douglas Jr., 50; Eugene Eillis, 46; Warren Stubblefield, 42; Antonio Miller, also known as Boney, 20; Doris Brown, 47; Shelton Bryant, also known as Shorty, 23; Keithan Rundles, also known as Keith, 33; Kelena Kliewer, 42; Kelly Henson, 36; Santee Stubblefield, 22; Gerald Williamson, 32; and Jacqueline McDaniel.
Warrants remain outstanding for the following:
Ellis Douglas, 42; Dylan Knight Roberson, 21; Eric Jackson, 19; Willie Marshall, also known as Wilco, 51; Bruce Shannon Jr., also known as B.J., 20; and Dennis Wells, 34.
During Friday's raid, officers also seized at least one vehicle and confiscated more than $450 in cash, as well as a small amount of crack cocaine.
Ardmore, Oklahoma Police Chief John Beene called the drug sweep, "A fine example of the community in partnership with law enforcement. We know sometimes citizens don't think we act on the information they've given us. This shows we do act, and we do take their tips seriously. But those who have called in need to be patient. It takes time to process the information, investigate the allegations and obtain warrants."
District Attorney Mitch Sperry said he was pleased by the efforts of the DATF in obtaining the warrants and with the result of the sweep.
"They certainly spent a significant amount of time trying to focus on a cross section of the community and to address, despite their best efforts, the continuing war on drugs," Sperry said. "I'm proud of them and the work they do."
Area residents are urged to continue to report suspicious activity or known drug activities that occur near their homes or businesses.
"These kinds of operations will continue with the help of citizens who want to rid their neighborhoods of drugs," Johnson said. "Without that kind of help and participation, our efforts become limited."
Also assisting in the sweep Friday were officers assigned to the APD Patrol Division, Ardmore Fire Department and Southern Oklahoma Ambulance Service.
