Oklahoma Ragin' Transit owner arrested for illegal drug possession

Oklahoma City, Oklahoma -based Ragin' Transit Authority owner David Evan Guthrie was arrested Tuesday for possession of illegal drugs with intent to distribute them.

Guthrie was initially stopped for speeding when Oklahoma officers clocked his 2003 Nissan at 46 mph in a 35 mph zone. A check on Guthrie's driver license revealed his license had been suspended on a charge of driving under the influence.

Police then searched Guthrie's vehicle, uncovering eight tablets of Ecstasy individually packaged in blue plastic baggies as well as a vial that contained a small amount of cocaine, said Lt. Tom Easley of the Norman, Oklahoma Police Department.

Guthrie's party bus service provides transportation to OU student apartments and fraternities between Norman and Oklahoma City's Bricktown area on Thursday and Saturday nights, and rents buses for private parties.

Police also discovered $844 in cash in the vehicle, which was taken into police custody. Easley said the cash consisted of four $100 bills, one $50 bill, 19 $20 bills and smaller bills.

"The street price for Ecstasy is usually around $20 to $30 a hit, so it is likely that money came from the sale of drugs," Easley said.

Guthrie was formerly convicted of armed robbery in Tulsa.

Guthrie was booked into Cleveland County, Oklahoma Detention Center at 4:30 a.m. Tuesday. He was released on bond at 12:45 p.m. before arraignments were held that day at 1 p.m. Guthrie's bond was set at $26,500.
